Sports Betting Glossary A–Z — Terms Explained for Singapore Bettors
A quick reference for every sports betting term you are likely to encounter on Maxim88 or any other Singapore sports betting platform. Use the letter jump-nav below to navigate to a specific term. Terms marked as [Racing], [Esports] or [Football] are sport-specific; the rest apply generally across sportsbook betting.
A
- Accumulator
- A single bet combining multiple selections. All selections must win for the bet to pay out. A four-fold accumulator combines four selections; odds multiply. Also called a parlay.
- American Odds
- Odds format showing how much profit a $100 bet returns (positive number) or how much must be staked to win $100 (negative number). Used mainly in the US; less common on Singapore sportsbooks. See our odds converter to switch between formats.

- [Football] Handicap betting that eliminates the draw by giving one side a virtual goal advantage. The dominant football betting market in Singapore. See our Asian handicap guide.
- ATS (Against the Spread)
- A team's record against handicap or point-spread lines, rather than straight wins and losses.
B
